Baked Camembert with Honey Roasted Figs

When I was a kid my grandma and I used to take an afternoon walk through the neighborhood. We always stopped at a fig tree where she stood on tiptoe to reach one for me and then took another one for herself. Maybe some of you pictured me somewhere in the middle of the country but this actually happened in the city... good old times!

Before you go any further on this blog post I have to warn you, this is an extremely mouthwatering recipe, so maybe you wanna grab a snack or something before reading it...

I've always thought that fresh figs are one of the most luscious fruits ever: so sweet, chewy, smooth and even crunchy! Perfect paired for a soft cheese like camembert. I decided to bring out their natural sweetness by roasting them with honey. The resulting fig caramel on top of the melting Camembert makes a perfect appetizer!


  • 250 grs Camembert or Brie

  • 2 Thyme sprigs

  • Fresh Rosemary

  • 2Tbsp Honey

  • 3 Fresh Figs

  • salt and pepper to taste.


Cut figs into quarters and push the sides to expose the juicy flesh, place them into a baking dish, drizzle them with honey, olive oil, sal and pepper. Bake at 180° for 10 minutes or until they're lightly brown and the honey is caramelized.

Unwrap the cheese from its packaging, then place back into its box over parchment paper. With a knife cut a circle on top and remove the thin crust.

Top with chopped thyme sprigs, rosemary and bake them at 180° 10-15 minutes or until bubbly and gooey. Top with the figs and its caramel.

Serve with toasted bread or crackers for dipping.
